A.J. Cook A.J. Cook, the Canadian actor, best known for playing Jennifer Jareau (JJ) as JJ in the films the films Criminal Minds and The Virgin Suicides in 1999 and 2003, respectively. He is also well-known for other roles. Cook's credits on TV are Dead Like Me (also known as Tru Calling), Higher Ground, Bluemoon and PSI Factor. Cook was born in Whitby by her father Mike who is a teacher at school and her mother, Sandra, who is a psychiatrist. Other siblings included Angela, Nathan, and Paul. She was raised as a Mormon as well as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a young girl, she was a tap, jazz, and ballet dance. There were many dance contests however it wasn't until turned 17 that she made the decision to pursue acting. The film Dirty Dancing starring Patrick Swayze encouraged her to become an actress. In the summer of 2001, Cook got married to her long-time partner Nathan Andersen, whom she met in a film class during her time at Utah Valley University. They share a son. Mekhai Allan Andersen was born 13 September 2008. She lives in Los Angeles
